Many households arrive for a job or a place at UC Irvine, then move again a few years later, village to village or out of state entirely. Digital attunement materials suit that pattern, since they stay yours permanently, and essence blends posted from Michigan follow you to whichever address comes next.
James Irvine bought out his partners in 1878 for a hundred and fifty thousand dollars and held a hundred and ten thousand acres; his son incorporated it as the Irvine Company after his death in 1886, and the Santa Fe named a station Irvine in 1888. In the late 1950s the architect William Pereira and Raymond Watson drew a plan for a city of fifty thousand organized around a university, and in 1959 the University of California asked for a thousand acres and the company sold them. Residents voted to incorporate on December 28, 1971, choosing a considerably larger city than the plan had drawn.
