Home to Bowdoin College and set at the falls of the Androscoggin River in midcoast Maine, Brunswick pairs a walkable Maine Street with easy access to Casco Bay and the Harpswell peninsulas. This coastal college town keeps a naturally restorative rhythm between water, woods, and community.
Small companies now work along the runways at Brunswick Landing, where the Navy once flew patrol planes out over the Atlantic. Nobody has to cross town for a session, because none of it happens in person. Attunement material stays with you permanently, which matters in a place people arrive in, study in, and often leave.
Brunswick was incorporated as a town in 1739 and Bowdoin College was chartered here in 1794. Harriet Beecher Stowe lived in the town between 1850 and 1852 and wrote Uncle Tom's Cabin during those years, and she said the key vision for it came to her in the First Parish Church. The Androscoggin falls in three stages for a total drop of 41 feet, which powered the sawmills and the textile mills. Naval Air Station Brunswick was the town's major employer until it closed in 2011, and much of the land has been redeveloped as Brunswick Landing.
