Built as a New Deal green town in 1937, Greenbelt is famous for its walkable co-op, community spirit, and the wooded trails of Greenbelt Park. That cooperative, nature-woven design encourages intentional, holistic living that remote attunements and flower essences naturally complement.
Goddard Space Flight Center sits at the edge of town, where mission schedules follow orbits rather than office hours. A session arranged at a distance works with that, no matter the hour. The Art Deco theater downtown still serves a place built for walking, not for driving to appointments.
Greenbelt came out of the New Deal: the Resettlement Administration was created on May 1, 1935 under Rexford Tugwell, following the Emergency Relief Appropriation Act that Congress passed on April 8 that year. Construction started on January 13, 1936, and the first tenants, chosen through a demanding application process, moved in on September 30, 1937. Roosevelt Center at the middle of it is still the Art Deco commercial core the town was built around. The cooperative habit outlasted the New Deal, and the Greenbelt Co-op Supermarket and Pharmacy opened in 1984 as a membership corporation.
